Callie
A Boons and Banes Character Spotlight
I swear, I just wanted to call a creature a Not-Deer. :D It came with baggage.
Sugar and spice and everything nice, plus a lot of twigs and flowers. That’s Callie, a little girl who appeared out of nowhere to interrupt Sept’s journey in Blood Diamonds. She appears to be very young, around 8 or 9 years of age. She appears on the back of a stick stag. Basically, that’s a bush in the shape of a stag that is her favored form of transportation. It runs and bounds like a living creature, springing about on its green limbs.
Sept immediately sees her for what she is…and refuses to believe it at first. A new god child in a world that rarely sees such things. She’s far too innocent and needs help, which draws her to the first person she sees as secure. Sept. Once again, he’s attracted something he didn’t bargain for, and this one’s such a small child who reminds him of his own little sisters.
But Callie obviously has parents. The mystery about why she’s wandering alone is answered quickly. ‘Someone’ kidnapped her and stashed her on Magnolia Manor’s grounds to sleep away the decades. She has been missing for over five decades and hasn’t aged a day.
While Sept’s family happily takes her in, Callie wants to go home to her mother and father. She doesn’t know their names, only that they loved her.
And it just may turn out that Callie will be the key to solving Verity’s problems once and for all. If they can get her home without triggering her vicious guardian. Any sign of danger to Callie brings out a monstrous creature far worse than Verity ever was. The clues are all there…Callie needs to return to her parents so she will be safe from the world itself.
